Pet Identification and Shoot for the Shelter Coming Up

Winter Hours: Through the months of January and February, The McCook Humane Society revert to our Winter Hours of Mon, Wed through Friday from 2pm until 5pm and Saturdays from Noon until 4pm. Closed to the public on Tuesdays and Sundays. If there are any emergencies, they will be taken care of.

Come check out our “Adopt-A-Kennel” program where our local individuals and businesses can show the community their support for our area’s homeless animals. This month’s (JANUARY) Adopt-A-Kennel is in memory of Carol Bridgman. Carol, a very special lady who would quickly point out that animals do speak. She would quickly point out that Dogs comfort us by resting their head on your lap when you cry, Cats use their gentle purr to quiet your anxieties and help your tired heart… And these were just part of how they speak to us. A very special thanks to all of our sponsors for their continuing support. It’s the perfect way to honor someone or memorialize them by adopting a kennel in their name. Call us for more information or visit our website www.mccookhumanesociety.com for more information and to fill out a form online. You can also sponsor an adoption for one of our available pets if you’d like to help out in that way.

NOT UGLY SWEATERS, just free ones. It’s that time of year… with the cold weather upon us, we’ve got our annual Free Sweater Giveaway going on. We don’t want to see any of our furry friends going without that extra protection, so drop on by and grab a free sweater from the basket.

We’re gearing up for a very special fundraising event. The Twentieth Annual (yes, you read that correctly, it is our TWENTIETH annual) “Shoot for the Shelter” Pool Tournament. It’s coming up fast. It’s on Saturday, January 31st, held at TJ’s Family Fun Center. Pre-Registration will start Monday, January 5th, and end on Monday, January 19th. You will be able to register online as well, at our website (www.mccookhumanesociety.com) beginning January 5th. You may also register by stopping by the shelter during business hours, or calling us at 308-345-2372. Keep watching for more information. Please give the shelter a call if you’d like to pitch in and help, donate or just need more information.

Did you know… Even in a small town like ours, it can be a big world for a furchild if they don’t have any identification. Without a voice, and without a tag, or better yet, a microchip, your furchild may never find his or her way home! Pet care is more than providing food, water and shelter. Pet care is also providing vet care and making sure that your pet has up-to-date identification on him or her. Even the most responsible pet owners can be accidentally or unexpectedly separated from their furkids, so remember… Pet Identification is your pet’s way home!
